Common questions

Why does the app ask for my location?

Only to check pavement conditions where you are, show nearby off-leash areas, and record walks on your device. “While Using the App” is all it ever requests. The app also works without location, defaulting to a general area.

How accurate is the paw check?

It’s a model calibrated against published veterinary data (at 25 °C air, full-sun asphalt reaches roughly 52 °C — hot enough to burn in a minute). Treat it as strong guidance and always confirm with the back of your hand for five seconds.

A council rule or off-leash boundary looks wrong

Council data ages. Trust on-site signage, and email us the correction — every report improves the map for everyone.

How do I cancel Pack?

Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions › PackSignal Pack › Cancel. Your access continues until the end of the paid period.

How do I delete my data?

See data deletion. On-device information is removed with the app; an optional PackSignal account can be permanently deleted under Pack → Account.
